Steve and Bucky are used to being up in the middle of the night, for various reasons–and usually not great ones. Nightmares are an obvious and frequent one, wrenching them awake and making it impossible to find peace until long after the sun comes up. Sometimes they miscalculate their own metabolisms, and hunger has them dragging their massive frames to the kitchen. Or Steve gets antsy, eyes wide open at 2 a.m. and guilt gripping his heart like a vice. He can’t go back to sleep, so he usually pads down to the gym, where he destroys punching bags until Bucky or Nat come to get him. Other nights, Bucky’s all at once alert, sitting up in bed, ears straining against the quiet as he gropes for the knife on the nightstand. He checks on Steve, makes sure he’s still sound asleep and breathing, before moving into action–getting dressed and doing a full perimeter check.

“In one of the most notable moments in sports history, Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped thinking he had completed the race.
A Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him, and after realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn’t understand his Spanish. Fernandez eventually caught up to him and instead of passing him, he pushed him to victory.
A journalist asked Ivan, “Why did you do that?”
Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.”
The journalist insisted “But why did you let the Kenyan win?“ Ivan replied, "I didn’t let him win, he was going to win.” The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”
Ivan looked at him & replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?” Values are transmitted from generation to generation. What values are we teaching our children? Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways to WIN.”
i learned that actor Danny Trejo has the most on-screen deaths of anyone in Hollywood history, with 65. Followed by Christopher Lee (60), Lance Henriksen (51), Vincent Price (41), Dennis Hopper (41), Boris Karloff (41), and John Hurt (39). (x)
Yet poor Sean Bean is stuck with the reputation for dying in every movie. Unfair.
Give him time, he still has many years of dying yet to come.
Also there’s the question of density vs quantity. If you make a hundred movies and die in 50, and someone else makes 30 movies and dies in 30, the first one has died more, but the second one has died more often per movie.
It’s the DPM ratio that really counts, IMO.
65/402 16% Danny Trejo 60/282 21% Christopher Lee 51/259 20% Lance Henriksen 41/211 19% Vincent Price 41/205 20% Dennis Hopper 41/204 20% Boris Karloff 39/209 19% John Hurt 33/117 28% Sean Bean
I’m so proud of the statistical side of tumblr for coming through on this.
if i was a court jester i’d flirt with the king at any given opportunity. subtle at first but if he was interested and we’d share banter then i’d sit in his lap. then he would say i’m the funniest silliest little man alive and kiss me with tongue
how could he NOT fall in love with me though like i am literally there making him giggle, daily. a grown man covered in gold and he is just laughing at my stupid little jokes. i have that bastard wrapped around my finger. He knows it
The hpv vaccine did not exist until Sam and Dean were adults, so regardless of whether John kept their vaccines up to date, they wouldn’t have that one (or the varicella vax, either). Or some of the meningitis vaccines. Also some, like the hepatitis vaccines, weren’t required until college or for international travel.
Singed,
Born in 1979 like Dean Winchester
I need everyone to know that my child is CURRENTLY enrolled in school, and they let me go a full year without showing updated immunization records. Like, yes they kept sending me letters asking for it, and saying “hey we really need this or else your kid can’t go here anymore”, and I accidentally sent them old (like real old) records the first go around…but they really did wait almost the entire school year before it became an issue.
So if this is the reality, now, post pandemic, imagine how lax it was during the 90s? By the time anyone noticed they didn’t have the records, I figure the boys would be up and gone.
not to give pirates of the caribbean too much credit but it really is the only major franchise Ive seen that was able to pull off the “historical and mythical exist at the same time” with any sort of success
Building on this its so funny how everyone has a globe but the moment the pirates hit the seas they sail off of the end of the (flat) world. its all in the details etc etc
